With hog prices being where they are, it is even more important that producers maximize the value they are receiving from manure as a fertilizer. This is important whether manure is spread on one's own crops or sold to a neighboring crop producer.

The value of manure as a commercial fertilizer replacement is influenced by the nutrient content of the manure, the amount of those nutrients that you actually need, and how efficiently you can use and deliver those nutrients to your crops. A computer spreadsheet program from University of Minnesota Extension called Manurwkst has been designed to determine manure value and will be demonstrated.  Participants can download the spreadsheet for further use in their operations. Practices to maximize manure value will be highlighted.
