for what could be a short growing season.

Cold, wet weather is keeping state farmers behind in their field work, making
for what could be a short growing season.

The weekly crop progress
report from the USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service showed small
percentages of crops planted so far in Wisconsin, and manure pits filled to the
top because farmers can't get their spreaders into wet cropland.
