MDE slated to start issuing permits Dec. 1

Baltimore, MD — The Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) recently
announced that, effective Dec. 1, it will begin issuing its general discharge
permit for Maryland Animal Feeding Operations (MAFOs) and Concentrated Animal
Feeding Operations (CAFOs).

Feeding Operations (CAFOs).
Due to a challenge by the
Waterkeeper Alliance, Assateague Coastkeeper, Lower Susquehanna Riverkeeper,
and Charles and Betty Schelts, MDE has been unable to issue permits.
