Chicken manure bill back in Maryland

January 25, 2016, Baltimore, MD – Several environmental groups are renewing a push to make Perdue and other agribusiness companies financially responsible for excess chicken manure on the Eastern Shore.
Last summer’s implementation of the phosphorus management tool — a Maryland Department of Agriculture regulation that requires farmers to throttle back on using manure as fertilizer — turned 228,000 tons of chicken manure into surplus.
