CIB honors Perdue as green model, pioneer

November 10, 2014 – Jim Perdue has made the news in Maryland by saying he doesn’t have a seat at the table when discussing environmental regulations, but in Delaware he not only has a seat, he is winning awards.

Recently Perdue was given the Center for the Inland Bays’ Business Award, as CEO of Perdue Farms. He was recognized for working with the center to develop model farms in the mid-2000s, and the company’s best management practice requirements.

The center also recognized Perdue as a pioneer in two fields; placing phytase in poultry feed, which allows chickens to process feed more efficiently and therefore require less phosphorus, and for work establishing AgriRecycle, the nation’s largest facility recycling chicken manure into organic fertilizer.
