The National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility (NBAF) is nearing completion in Manhattan, Kansas. After falling off schedule slightly due to disruptions caused by the pandemic, substantial completion of its construction is now projected for October 2021. At this point, the USDA will have full access to the facility.
The facility will serve as the nation’s first large-animal research and diagnostic facility. The facility is being built by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Science & Technology Directorate. Full operating capability is projected for the last quarter of 2023.
