August 19, 2010, Woodstock, Ont – Work has started on a demonstration anaerobic digester being showcased at Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show, being held September 14, 15 & 16, 2010.

Ontario Harvestore has started to bring in the blue rings required to build the anaerobic digester behind the Olympia Dairy Innovation Centre that will be part of the biogas displays and demonstrations at the 2010 show. This new project will also showcase a fully operational mobile biogas digester from Alberta working off the manure from our 70 cows that just arrived.

This year marks the first year for the interactive display, which will demonstrate biogas technology and explain the process of anaerobic digestion and production of methane gas from manure and waste products.

To help explain this process, the life-size mockup of an anaerobic digester currently being constructed will feature cutaways for attendees to enter and exit the digester in order to see the working parts inside without the manure and gas. Once inside the digester, visitors will see first hand how materials can be fed into the unit, how the mixtures are regulated and mixed, and what happens to the gas and leftovers (called digestate) afterwards.

Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show runs September 14, 15 & 16, 2010 at Canada’s Outdoor Park.
