August 5, 2008, Dubuque, IA – Commercial manure applicators that have not fulfilled their 2008 manure applicator certification training requirements can still attend the three hours of annual continuing instruction required to maintain their certification.

On Wednesday, August 20, from 9 a.m. until noon, the Iowa State University Extension Office and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources is conducting a statewide re-show of the 2008 Commercial Manure Applicator Satellite Downlink at the Dubuque office.

There is no fee to attend the workshop, and those wanting to certify for the first time should attend. In addition to providing certification requirements, the conference will cover applicator rules, record-keeping requirements, road and transportation issues, plus a review of manure spills and prevention and mitigation strategies.

Applicators unable to attend the program on August 20 need to schedule time at their local Iowa State University Extension Office to watch the training tape. Due to scheduling conflicts, many ISU offices will no longer accept walk-in appointments to view tapes.

For more information, contact the Dubuque County Iowa State University Extension Office at 563-583-6496.
