November 26, 2019  by Manure Manager

African Swine Fever (ASF) was confirmed in eighteen wild boars in the Lubusz Province in west Poland on Nov. 19, 2019, according to results of research carried out at the National Veterinary Institute.

Further intensive searches are underway and an external fence was built on November 18 to create a buffer zone. The construction of a second external fence is also planned.

The announcement puts the disease within 80 kilometres of Germany — the European Union’s biggest hog producer, according to an analysis from iPolitics.
