— Local opposition caused a state panel to halt funding of a study to determine
where to consolidate the state prison’s dairy herd and site a manure digester.

— Local opposition caused a state panel to halt funding of a study to determine
where to consolidate the state prison’s dairy herd and site a manure digester.

The Department of
Corrections wants to gather the prison system’s 1,200-head dairy herd either
near the Waupun or Fox Lake prison farms in order to best support a digester
that will turn mountains of manure into electricity and non-odorous bedding
material.
