WA health board hears from public on manure rule

November 21, 2013, Yakima, WA – Environmental activists concerned about the public health risks from the Lower Yakima Valley’s dairies asked the state board of health to strengthen its regulation on nuisance manure at a public meeting recently.

Jean Mendoza, a nurse from White Swan who heads the environmental group Friends of Toppenish Creek, said more regulations and enforcement are needed to protect the public from water and air pollution caused by mismanagement of manure. READ MORE
