Opponents say bill allows farms to “dump manure”

Feb. 11, 2010, Des Moines, IA –

A bill recently introduced and passed by a House
Committee would weaken a law passed last year that prohibits the spread of
manure on snow-covered fields, a state official and a citizen action group said
today.

House File 2324 would exempt operations constructed before
July 1, 2009 from having to be required to construct or expand a manure storage
structure to accommodate the law.
