Ont. manure spill brings $50,000 fine

December 16, 2013, Sarnia, Ont – A manure spill into a Lambton Shores creek resulted in a $50,000 fine for a Warwick company in Sarnia provincial offences court.
The Warwick area farmer pleaded guilty to the Nov. 19, 2011 violation of the Ontario Water Resources Act by allowing a discharge from a manure lagoon in Lambton Shores. An agreed statement of facts presented to the court stated the farm corporation operated a 3,000 head beef feed lot and the manure held in the lagoon is used as a nutrient on farm fields. READ MORE
