NY senator pushes digesters funding for farmers

September 14, 2012, Watertown, NY – A plan spearheaded by Sen. Charles E. Schume could help dairy farmers in NY state purchase digester facilities to convert cattle manure into fertilizer and biogas.
Schumer is seeking to reinstate an expired energy grant program that would give farmers upfront cash to pay for up to 30 percent of digester facilities.
