Members of the Iowa Manure
Management Action Group (IMMAG) have developed a new resource for the
state’s crop and livestock producers.

Members of the Iowa Manure Management Action Group (IMMAG) have developed a new resource for the state’s crop and livestock producers. The group will write and distribute a series of fact sheets that will address a variety of issues regarding manure management. A new fact sheet will be distributed each month.

“This valuable tool comes in response to the continued need to provide information on regulations, best management practices, neighbor relations and sources of additional information for people who produce and apply manure as crop nutrients,” said Angela Rieck-Hinz, Iowa State University Extension program specialist.

IMMAG members identified the topics for the 11 fact sheets planned for distribution. The first issue served as an introduction and covers the various types of livestock operations. Other topics include land application, winter manure application and manure stockpiling.

The fact sheets will be available through IMMAG’s website at http://extension.agron.iastate.edu/immag/pubsimms.html.  IMMAG members will also distribute the fact sheets through their respective newsletters, magazine, producer mailings and the media. Copies can be printed from the IMMAG website.
