Judge rules: Dairy polluted WA groundwater

January 16, 2015, Yakima, WA — In a recent wide-ranging ruling, a federal judge found that one of the Yakima Valley’s largest dairies has polluted groundwater through its application, storage and management of manure, posing possible “imminent and substantial endangerment” to the public consuming the water and the environment.
In a ruling that could set a national precedent for manure management, U.S. District Judge Thomas O. Rice of Spokane wrote: “Any attempt to diminish the dairy’s contribution to the nitrate contamination is disingenuous, at best.” READ MORE
