Granville farm unveils new digester and food waste depackager system

Rockwood Farms in Granville, MA, celebrated the launch of a food waste anaerobic digester (Rockwood Ag-Grid) and a food waste depackager (Rockwood Ag-Grid Organics) on Sept. 25, 2019. The systems are up and running, expecting to help recycle farm and food waste and generate 3.5 million kW hours of renewable energy.
It’s fed not only by liquefied cow manure from the farm but also liquid food waste from area factories including the Coca-Cola plant in Northampton, Agri-Mark’s butter and dried milk powder plant in West Springfield and area H.P. Hood dairy plants.
Soon, the digester will start eating sold food waste, delivered to the farm from school cafeterias, hospitals, supermarkets and other cooking and eating establishments. | READ MORE
