A group of large livestock farmers in Pennsylvania have found themselves caught in a dispute between an environmental group and the state's DEP.
According to a report in the Intelligencer Journal, environmental group PennFuture alleges that more than half of the 81 farms it analyzed for a report called Sick Susquehanna were not in compliance with Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection rules for confined animal feeding operations. A recent review of the Pennsylvania DEP’s files by the newspaper shows that some of the required records are actually on file.
Livestock producers in Pennsylvania have been upset since an article publicizing PennFuture’s allegations was published in the Intelligencer Journal.
