Virginia River declared safe week after manure spill

April 11, 2014, Rocky Mount, VA – Health officials have declared a section of the Pigg River safe in Franklin County a week after 30,000 gallons of cow manure wastewater spilled.
The state Department of Health advised residents last week to avoid recreational use of a section of the river, including swimming, boating or fishing. READ MORE
