Big manure spill at Washington dairy

WA – A 21 million-gallon manure lagoon at a dairy farm outside Snohomish
suffered a “catastrophic” breach, releasing an unknown amount of manure into
fields and filtering it into French Slough and the Snohomish River.

suffered a “catastrophic” breach, releasing an unknown amount of manure into
fields and filtering it into French Slough and the Snohomish River.

The lagoon, at
Bartelheimer Brothers dairy, was filled almost to capacity when the dairy
operator noticed a 30-foot-wide breach on the lagoon’s northwest side and
notified the appropriate authorities.
