WUD director of environmental services retires

July 10, 2012 – Paul Martin, the Western United Dairymen’s (WUD) long-time director of environmental services, retired from full-time employment with the organization on July 1. Martin will stay on in a consulting role with WUD.

“We appreciate the vital role Paul has played for us over the years on a wide variety of environmental issues,” said CEO Michael Marsh. “Paul has provided WUD with a level of environmental expertise unparalleled in California’s dairy industry. Paul is highly regarded both domestically and internationally as one of the nation’s top dairy environmental experts for his work on air and water quality issues. He has built relationships with federal and state agencies that have been invaluable in dealing with some of our industry’s most important issues. We look forward to working with him in his new role as consultant as we transition our environmental work load to Paul Sousa, who will be taking over the position of director of environmental services.”

Martin graduated from University of California – Davis with a degree in agriculture economics and went on to earn his MA in environmental studies from Sonoma State. He is a graduate of the California Agricultural Leadership Program.

“Paul has been a tremendous mentor to staff for both WUD and Western United Environmental Services over the years,” noted Marsh. “The knowledge he has shared will benefit this industry for years to come.”
