Wisconsin DNR grants Emerald Dairy discharge permit

January 29, 2009, St. Croix County, Wis. – The Wisconsin Department of
Natural Resources has granted Emerald Dairy a state pollution permit
that will allow the dairy to discharge water into a nearby creek.

Facility owner John Vrieze has been lobbying the state to obtain a permit to discharge the water resulting from his dairy’s multiple-stage, Integrated Separation Solutions (ISS) water purification system.
In the past, the dairy had been forced to land apply the water.
