WI county tells Hoards to drain lagoon

November 6, 2013, Fort Atkinson, WI – While attempting to work cooperatively with Hoard’s Dairyman Farm in Fort Atkinson, Jefferson County officials have ordered the famous dairy farm to drain a five million liquid gallon manure containment lagoon to allow experts to make a determination as to what is causing leakage of water contaminated with nitrogen and ammonia.

It was discovered in the fall of 2008 that manure was leaking from the storage area shortly after it came into usage and a lawsuit was initiated. The Hoard farm milks about 400 Guernsey and Jersey cows. READ MORE
