WA dairies look to state for relief from federal suits

March 28, 2016, Olympia, WA — The dairy industry and environmental groups are watching to see whether House and Senate budget writers will fund a gambit to give Washington dairies some protection from federal lawsuits.

The protection would come through new groundwater-protection regulations by the state Department of Ecology. Dairy lobbyists are pushing for a budget provision directing DOE to develop the rules based solely on the state’s water-pollution control law. READ MORE
