September 3, 2009, Bellingham, WA – Researchers at Western Washington University have been awarded a $500,000 grant for a project aimed at turning manure from dairy cows into fuel for vehicles.
The Bellingham school’s Vehicle Research Institute (VRI) was awarded the grant from the U.S. Department of Energy to expand the Biomethane for Transportation project at the school. The project is researching turning dairy cow manure into clean-burning biomethane fuel.
