UC-Davis scientist to chair UN panel

October 22, 2012, Davis, CA – A university scientist who challenged a United Nations study on livestock and climate change has been named to chair a committee to assess the true impacts.
Frank Mitloehner, a professor and air quality specialist at the University of California-Davis, will lead the UN’s Food and Agricultural Organization panel to measure the environmental impacts of the livestock industry.
Mitloehner gained national attention in 2009 when he co-wrote a report questioning a 2006 UN study that asserted that livestock operations were responsible for 18 percent of the world’s greenhouse gases. READ MORE
