approval but is still awaiting the okay from Michigan state officials.

August 26, 2008, Pierson Township, Mich. – A plan to turn turkey litter into energy has received township approval but is still awaiting the okay from Michigan state officials.

According to a recent report in the Grand Rapids Press, Pierson Township’s planning commission has approved a special use permit for Harley Sietsma to build a waste-to-energy plant on his property.

The approval followed a heated meeting involving neighbors to the proposed site.

Sietsma is still awaiting approval from state officials.
