July 10, 2012 by PRWeb UK
Jul. 10, 2012, Sao Paulo, Brazil – Companies and individuals who are driving innovation and commercialization in the next generation of Brazilian biofuels and biomass power generation will meet to address industry trends, barriers to success, and near and long term opportunities as part of the upcoming World Biofuels Markets Brazil and the co-located Biomass Power Generation Brazil conference. During the two day event, which will take place September 18-19, in São Paulo, Brazil, more than 500 Brazilian and International bioenergy leaders will debate key market issues such as supply shortages, challenges in accelerating the scale-up of cellulosic ethanol, the future of biochemicals and bioplastics, and alternative feedstocks.
The biofuels event opens with insights from top level keynote speakers including José Aníbal, Secretary of Energy for the State of São Paulo, Bernardo Gradin, Chairman of Graal Investments & Graal Bio, Pedro Moura Costa, Founder and President of BVRio, and Ozires Silva, Founder of Embraer, former President of Petrobras and Varig Airlines and Minister of State for Infrastructure of Brazil.
“We are bringing together the most influential and active members of the Brazilian biofuels industry to address the roles of technology, finance, and sustainability,” said Nadim Chadhury, CEO of Green Power Conferences – producer of World Biofuels Markets and Biomass Power Generation. “Brazil continues to be a global leader in bioenergy, and this conference will examine how the public and private sector can ensure that the future for biofuels and biomass power remains bright.”
A “State of Our Industry” debate featuring executives from leading companies such as Paraíso Bioenergia, Guarani, Grupo Maubisa, and Bioverde Biodiesel will examine how to increase returns on investment by addressing production capacity shortfalls, insufficient biomass supply, and revenue diversification. Other sessions will explore topics that include: the role of major oil companies in biofuels, the growing use of aviation biofuels, sustainability certification, the commercialization of next gen biofuels, and advances in agricultural strategies and technology.
The co-located Biomass Power Generation Brazil conference will investigate the potential of biomass-fired power and bioelectricity generation across Brazil. Representatives from leading utilities, developers, investors, feedstock and technology suppliers will come together to hear first-hand case studies on developing power plants, finance, fuel supply chains and the latest developments biomass sector.
“As Brazil has set ambitious, near-term goals to phase out the use of fossil fuels for power generation, we’re seeing an increasing number of utilities and energy intensive industries converting existing coal fired plants or building new biomass powered plants,” said Chaudhry. “This forum will allow all stakeholders in the power industry to come together and address challenges and opportunities in sustainably fulfilling Brazil’s growing power needs.”
Biomass Power Generation Brazil will feature sessions investigating cogeneration feedstocks including sugarcane bagasse, energy crops and purpose grown biomass, wood-based biomass, and municipal solid waste. Other key issues such as biomass pellet markets, carbon emissions, policy, economics, and price dynamics will be dissected throughout the conference by speakers from federal and state government, private industry, and nonprofit environmental organizations.
Sessions during both conferences will be simultaneously translated between English and Portuguese.
