October 6, 2014, Milwaukee, WI – As worries grow over pollutants that foul lakes and rivers with oxygen-depleting algae, two state agencies plan to roll out new strategies in early 2015 to combat the problem.

The departments of agriculture and natural resources have been meeting since early summer on ways the two regulating agencies can control a key pollutant, phosphorus, that washes off streets and farm fields.

Nutrient pollution is getting closer scrutiny, fueled by factors such as widespread algae blooms and worries about manure pollution. READ MORE
