MI DEQ monitors another manure spill

October 15, 2013, Grant Township, MI — A liquid manure spill in Huron County led to the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality being called to the scene.

According to Huron County Emergency Services, a tractor was pulling two 5,000-gallon tanks containing liquid manure when it overturned into a ditch. The tractor reportedly hit a bad spot in the road, which shifted the weight of the tanks, bouncing them back and forth and sending the tractor into the guardrail of a bridge and then down the opposite side of the ditch.
