Soil temperature at manure application can impact yield

Timing a manure application can be tricky business, especially if harvest runs late. So, you would think an early harvest – like this year’s – would be ideal. However, a recent research trial conducted by Iowa State University (ISU) says otherwise.
The trial at the ISU Northeast Research and Demonstration Farm near Nashua, IA, found significant corn yield reductions when fall manure was applied to soil with temperatures exceeding 50 F. |READ MORE
