Chicken manure plan creates rift in IN

November 4, 2013, Richmond, IN – Plans to build a chicken manure storage building in southwestern Wayne County are getting a second look from county officials.

A building permit for the manure storage building on Neuman Lake Road was issued to a farmer near Brownsville last summer, planning and zoning director Steve Higinbotham said. On the application, it was stated the facility would be for personal use in farming operation, but more recent information has indicated the farmer also may sell manure to other farmers, Higinbotham said.
