supervisors in PA recently granted conditional approval to a facility that will
convert manure into electricity.
The manure digester will
be located on Yippee! Farms, which is owned by Arlin and Deborah Benner. The
Benner family also operates two neighboring dairy operations – Rocky Acre Farm,
at 1020 Pinkerton Road, and an adjoining farm.
The farms cover about 650
acres. There are approximately 800 dairy cows in the herd at the three farms,
along with 800 replacement heifers. Pipes will transfer manure from the other
two farms to Yippee! Farms to be used in the digester. Industrial food waste
will also be mixed with the manure.
