October 7, 2015, Paullina, IA – Quick thinking by a manure applicator helped stop a tractor fire in its tracks in Iowa last week.
According to Paullina Fire Chief Brian Feltman, the area fire department was called to a tractor fire but when they reached the scene, the fire was nearly out. The tractor’s operator had been knifing in liquid manure using a drag hose when a hot exhaust pipe ignited bean dust. When the operator noticed the fire, he disconnected the liquid manure hose and used the flow of liquid manure to put out the fire. READ MORE
