Earlier, the Illinois
Environmental Protection Agency said manure runoff from Stone Ridge Dairy, the
state’s largest dairy, was the likely culprit in the contamination of Lone Tree
Creek and the Sangamon River. But recently Bruce Yurdin, manager of statewide
field operations for IEPA’s Bureau of Water, said further investigation has
found other potential sources, and that many sources could share the blame.
