October 21, Urbandale, IA – The chairwoman of a state environmental
regulatory panel is expressing frustration over a lack of legislative
backing and a litigious livestock industry that is thwarting efforts to
clean up Iowa’s impaired waters and combat pollution.

October 21, Urbandale, IA – The chairwoman of a state environmental regulatory panel is expressing frustration over a lack of legislative backing and a litigious livestock industry that is thwarting efforts to clean up Iowa’s impaired waters and combat pollution.

“We are trying to do what we can, given the political environment,” said Charlotte Hubbell, a Des Moines woman who is head of the state Environmental Commission. “I had hoped it would be more, but it’s not to be.”
