NYRA to stop dumping contaminated water into sewers

October 3, 2016, New York City, NY – The New York Racing Association has agreed to stop dumping water contaminated with horse manure and detergent from the Aqueduct Racetrack into city sewer drains.
The Brooklyn U.S. Attorney’s office filed a lawsuit under the Clean Water Act alleging in 2013 and 2014 the racetrack had discharged more than 1 million gallons of wastewater into the Hawtree and Bergen Basins, which ultimately flowed into Jamaica Bay. READ MORE
