NY dairy farm to pay $15,000 fine

October 10, 2014, Batavia, NY – An Oakfield, NY, dairy operation has agreed to pay a $15,000 state fine for its part in causing animal manure contamination of several residential wells in the town of Batavia.
The farm’s vice-president signed a consent order this summer with the state Department of Environmental Conservation. The document stipulates the farm will pay the $15,000 and face another $44,000 in penalties if it fails to change its manure management practices to meet DEC requirements outlined in the order.
