No negligence over failure to insure pig manure spill

March 22, 2012 – An insurance agent was not negligent when he failed to sell a Westford, MA, family farm a policy that would have covered a pig manure spill, the Appeals Court has found.
The spill, which occurred when a berm broke, resulted in 10,000 gallons of liquid pig manure flowing down a hill onto neighboring land. It ultimately cost the Connell family $400,000 to clean up the manure and address contamination issues. READ MORE
