March 17, 2015, Sacremento, CA – Two local dairies will benefit from California Energy Commission (CEC) grants totaling $8 million for the development of manure-to-energy projects. The CEC recently announced that American Biogas Electric Company was awarded two grants of $4 million each for projects at Bakersfield’s Lakeview Farms Dairy and Buttonwillow’s West Star North Dairy.

Lakeview Farms Dairy will be used for a covered lagoon digester that will convert manure from dairy operations into biogas. The resultant gas will then be used to produce electricity in a 1 MW generator platform that can be expanded to include biogas from neighboring dairies. West Star North Dairy will be used to install a double-cell covered lagoon digester to demonstrate operation under variable wastewater streams. READ MORE
