New SD feedlot rules pushed back

December 16, 2015, Sioux Falls, SD – The Department of Environment and Natural Resources has canceled a hearing on its general permit for feedlots.
The agency was set to hear arguments Dec. 16 on the updated rules for concentrated animal feeding operations, or CAFOs, but a group contesting the rules wants more time to prepare.
The move pushes back a debate over the standards for pollution control on large feedlots, a conversation with a direct effect on the agricultural producers who drive South Dakota’s largest industry. READ MORE
