New foundation will assist U of G agriculture students

November 14, 2019  by Manure Manager

The Lori Litherland Foundation has been officially launched as a registered charity to support Canadian agriculture-focused youth programs. Its first initiative is to assist financially-disadvantaged students engaged in agricultural studies at the University of Guelph.

In its first year, the foundation will provide scholarships to first-year undergraduate students in the Ontario Agriculture College (OAC) at the university.

The Foundation’s namesake, Lori Litherland, had more than 26 years of leading her search management business (Litherland & Company) placing top talent with agribusinesses across the country. She founded and endowed the charity prior to her passing to encourage students to follow their passion for agriculture.

She was well-known in the industry, and had the rare ability to connect, inspire and form lasting relationships. She was a motivator of youth and encouraged education. Her involvement in agriculture was immense and she deemed OAC students most fitting as recipients for her charity due to the college’s commitment to inspiring leaders, lifelong learning and devotion to community.
