New EPA rules expected
The federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is expected to
release new rules for confined animal feeding operations (CAFOs) in
October or November.

The federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is expected to release new rules for confined animal feeding operations (CAFOs) in October or November.

According to a report in Northwest Arkansas’ Morning News, the proposed rules were announced at a water quality conference at John Brown University in Siloam Springs, Arkansas.

The new regulations will outline permit requirements for CAFOs – including possible federal standards for disposal of manure and poultry litter – but permits will still be issued by the state, explained an official with the EPA.
