N.C. waste-power deadline delayed

December 4, 2012 – The N.C. Utilities Commission has delayed this year’s deadline for some of the state’s electric power to come from hog and poultry wastes, acknowledging problems with an energy market that is “clearly in its infancy.”
Utilities, electric cooperatives and municipal power agencies say they face a litany of problems in meeting the manure-based aspects of North Carolina’s 2007 green-energy law.
