October 21, 2010, Kansas City, MO – Midwest Research Institute, known for its expertise in alternative energy, is extending its work to an undoubtedly renewable resource: animal manure primarily from chickens.
The Kansas City-based research organization is collaborating with a local company called BioStar Systems, which is rolling out its model of a system known as an anaerobic digester. This process promises to turn animal waste into energy that can heat homes and businesses, fuel cars and trucks or generate electricity.
