MN DNR raises concerns about hog farm

February 21, 2017, St. Charles, MN – The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) stated that a proposal to expand two rural St. Charles hog farms could risk a repeat of the 2015 fish kill that wiped out most of the trout in the South Branch of the Whitewater River.
Late last month, DNR officials raised numerous concerns about the potential for the hog farm expansions to cause ground and surface water pollution near designated trout streams, Whitewater State Park, and the Whitewater Wildlife Management Area.
