MN county eyes oversight for feedlot officer

April 17, 2015, Winona, MN – The Winona County Planning Commission recently held a public hearing to decide whether the county should create a new committee that would serve as a board of appeals for feedlot enforcement.
If farmers disagreed with what the county feedlot officer was requiring them to do — or if neighbors had complaints about what the feedlot officer was not requiring a farmer to do — they could appeal the matter to the proposed Feedlot Review Committee. The committee would have the final say on the county’s enforcement of state feedlot and manure regulations, and would also mediate feedlot-related disputes between farmers and neighbors. READ MORE
