MD farmers given deadline to curb use of manure

March 16, 2015, Baltimore, MD – Not content with farm rules proposed by Gov. Larry Hogan, a Senate committee approved a bill recently that would give Eastern Shore farmers a firm deadline to stop over-fertilizing their fields with chicken manure.
The Senate bill would require rules be adopted by next year limiting how much phosphorus-rich manure farmers could use to raise their crops. The limits would have to be fully enforced by 2022. READ MORE
