Radcliffe, IA – The regulations regarding winter applications of manure on Iowa
fields haven’t changed since last year, but the weather has.

“It was a lot easier
getting the manure applied this fall,” says Brent Friest, who farms and runs a
hog operation with his father near Radcliffe. “The weather just cooperated more
this time.”

That should mean fewer
issues for farmers but also perhaps a little less leniency from state officials
when requests for emergency manure applications land on their doorsteps.
