The Manitoba Livestock Manure Management Initiative (MLMMI) is hoping to expand its research mandate to include other livestock commodities beyond hogs.
The MLMMI was established in 1998 to encourage sustainable development within the province’s livestock industry through research, development and demonstration. The initiative focused mainly on hogs in the beginning and officials now hope to branch out to include dairy, poultry and beef. Representatives within those Manitoba livestock sectors are currently being surveyed for their ideas about what types of research they would like to see investigated.
